TUAA Committee Preference Form

Alumni Resources Committee: This committee develops and maintains biographical information of alumni who are potential Council members and others who are capable of providing significant leadership and service to the University, as overseers, trustees, reunion leaders, and regional alumni leaders. It also publishes the annual Directory of Council Members. This year, it will also develop a new series of awards to recognize alumni service to Tufts. Alumni Weekend Committee: This committee works in cooperation with the Office of Alumni Relations to plan and coordinate the events of Alumni Weekend and to assist individual classes in their reunion planning. Contact: Kevin Boyle, A78, Chair, k.boyle@snet.net.

Awards Committee: This committee determines those persons who shall be recipients of Senior Awards, Distinguished Service Awards, and Service Citations and implements and coordinates appropriate presentations. The committee has expanded its award ceremonies to cities other than Boston. Contact: Eric Gheewalla, A87, D91, DG93, Chair, egheewalla@aol.com. Career Services Committee: This committee works with the University's Career Planning Center to recruit alumni to join the Tufts Career Advisory Network and serve as career networking advisors, mentors, and internship sponsors. It also seeks to make career services available to alumni. Contact: Brian McCarthy, A75, A07P, Chair, lottave@alumni.tufts.edu.

Citizenship and Public Service: This committee collaborates with other committees to infuse Active Citizenship programs into existing program structures. This committee also assists regional chapters in planning and implementing active citizenship components into their events and activities. Contact: Ben Sands, E54, Chair, bfsjr@verizon.net.

Communications Committee: This committee monitors and makes recommendations on communications between the Council and its members, the Council, and the general alumni body and the University and its alumni. This committee will work with Tufts staff to expand and upgrade web-based communications to alumni. Contact: JJ Kwashnak, A88, Chair, kwashnak@alumni.tufts.edu.

Continuing Education Committee: This committee has in the past prepared and implemented courses, lectures, and other programs of an educational or cultural nature for alumni and other members of the Tufts community. This committee will work with the Tufts Institute for Lifelong Learning (TILL) to enhance this new initiative in learning and will develop lecture opportunities for alumni and faculty, such as Super Seminars for Alumni Weekend. Development Committee: Working with the Development Office, this committee works to improve alumni contributions to the University and seeks to increase participation in the Annual Fund by Council members. This committee also works with the Alumni Weekend Committee to coordinate reunion-giving initiatives. Contact: Mark Ferri, A84, F86, Chair, markferri@comcast.net.

Executive Committee: Officers of this committee function on behalf of the Council in the intervals between meetings of the Alumni Council. It focuses on continually improving the Council's performance in support of the mission and purpose of the TUAA. Financial Resources Committee: This committee reviews proposals submitted to it for funding by the Alumni Council and makes recommendations to the Executive Committee regarding the disposition of such proposals. The committee also develops, evaluates, and adjusts, as necessary, the process for submission and consideration of such funding proposals. The committee reports to the Executive Committee on a quarterly basis. Contact: Bob Steck, F81, Chair, bob.steck@anheuser-busch.com.

Homecoming Committee: This committee works in cooperation with the Office of Alumni Relations to plan and coordinate the events of Homecoming Weekend. Contact: Co-Chairs, Joe and Meredith Zona, jjzona@sgh.com; mzona@fstinc.com.

Nominating Committee: This committee seeks the sentiments of alumni and nominates candidates for Alumni Trustee and the Tufts Alumni Council for election. This committee also nominates a slate of officers and directors to lead the Council. Contact: Bob Kennison, M60, Chair, rkennison@tufts-nemc.org.

Regional Programs Committee: This committee serves as a liaison to TUAA chapters and other regional organizations. In conjunction with the regional programming efforts of the Office of Alumni Relations, this committee works to strengthen the tie between regional members, the Council, and the University. Student Issues/Young Alumni Committee: This committee interacts with students, participates in student/alumni events, and engages in dialogue with students, young alumni, and other members of the Tufts community about current issues of student life and life after graduation. This committee seeks to enhance the awareness among students and young alumni of one's lifelong connection to Tufts and of the function of the Alumni Association. Programmatic efforts of this committee include career networking seminars for seniors, young alumni regional events, and arranging for graduating seniors to elect members to the Alumni Council. Traditions Committee: This committee seeks to develop among students, alumni and friends of Tufts a knowledge of the University's history and traditions. The committee's projects include the Tufts Sesquicentennial Time Capsule and new initiatives to increase awareness of the growth and change of campus life over the years. Ad Hoc Committee on Special Constituencies: This committee develops and maintains guidelines for recognition of new Tufts affinity or special interest alumni chapters. The committee reviews applications and recommends Alumni Council approval for provisional status or chartered status for these new Special Constituency (SC) Chapters, continuously evaluates the activity of existing SC chapters, and engages in outreach to potential alumni affinity groups. It also works with the alumni associations of Tufts graduate schools to foster inclusiveness and coordination among all the alumni organizations and a closer working relationship with TUAA. Ad Hoc. Marketing and Branding Committee: This committee will analyze the data collected from the 2006 Alumni Survey and develop a marketing plan to enhance visibility and increase awareness of TUAA as it works toward its mission to be a conduit to create lifelong relationships between Tufts University and its alumni. Ad Hoc. Regional Leaders Symposium: This committee will develop the program and coordinate the planning of the 2007 Regional Leaders Symposium for leaders of alumni chapters around the world. Contact: Elliott Lerman, E65, E94P, Chair, lermane65@aol.com.
