One-Time Opportunities

Short on time? There are many special and unique ways that you can give back to your alma mater.

Senior Dinners
Dinners are held in February and March every year at the President’s House on the Medford campus. Alumni interact one-on-one with members of the senior class and share tips on career networking and managing your life after Tufts!

Career Panels, Career Days
Career-related events are held on the Medford campus throughout the academic year in such fields as finance, communications, engineering, non profits, public health, and consulting. Alumni share advice with students on choosing a major, exploring different career paths, applying for graduate school and tips on interviewing for a job, and conducting an effective job search.

Active Citizenship / Public Service Events
In partnership with the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service, we offer a broad range of activities that celebrate, educate, and engage Tufts alumni who are interested in building stronger communities and societies. Two of our regional chapters, Boston and New York, have formed committees which meet regularly to plan, develop, and implement new alumni programs and expand upon existing initiatives. Additionally, other regional chapters plan one-time community service projects throughout the year:
*Boston Active Citizens
*Tufts Active Citizens of New York (TACNY)
*Other regional projects

Foster Children’s Holiday Party
Held annually in December on the Medford campus since 1987, this event brings the holiday season to Boston-area foster children and their families. Volunteers are needed to assist with the party, donate a new, unwrapped gift, or make a financial contribution.

Steering Committees / New Endeavors

Steering committees consist of several regional chapter leaders or members of special interest groups who are responsible for carrying out the business of the chapter or group, such as planning alumni events, serving as contacts/ representatives for the University and creating succession plans for regional leaders or special interest group members.

Tufts Alumni Admissions Program (TAAP)

Help recruit the next generation of Tufts students by giving your time as an interviewer, host or outreach volunteer.

One of the most effective ways for bright and talented students to connect with Tufts is to hear from those who have lived the Jumbo experience. The Tufts Alumni Admissions Program (TAAP) is a global network of more than 3,000 Tufts alums that assist the University’s efforts to attract the most promising students to join the Tufts community. The TAAP program offers alumni the opportunity to remain connected to Tufts and give back to the University in a valuable, service-oriented manner.

There are several different volunteer opportunities available within TAAP. Alumni can interview assigned applicants, assist in the planning and hosting of local TAAP events and admissions staff travel, as well as represent Tufts at local college fairs and attend local admitted student receptions.

For more information, please visit the TAAP website.

Tufts University Alumni Association (TUAA)

Standing Committees
TUAA accomplishes some of its most important work through its standing committees. It’s an excellent way to meet a broad spectrum of your fellow alumni. Some of the responsibilities include researching and implementing important initiatives in the areas of Career Services, Student Issues, Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.

Nominating/Voting Opportunities
Your vote counts. Help shape the future of the university by nominating alumni and/or voting in elections for Alumni Council members and Alumni Trustees. TUAA is currently seeking nominations for trustees and nominations for council members.

Distinguished Service Awards
Help us recognize the achievements and dedication of Tufts alumni. Nominate an alumnus/a or a member of the Tufts community for his or her dedicated service to Tufts, community, or profession. The TUAA Awards Committee selects several outstanding alumni each year. Award winners are honored at a special reception and dinner on campus in the spring. All alumni are eligible to submit nominations for a DSA. Nominations are accepted in the fall of every year. Contact Jessica Johnson Sherwood at Jessica.sherwood@tufts.edu for more information.
