Summer Music Camp for Kids
Summer Community Music Camp, July 27 through July 31, 2009
Granoff Music Center, 20 Talbot Avenue, Tufts University Medford/Somerville Campus
Directed by the Tufts Community Music Program and Department of Music
For students ages 6-12
The camp program runs from 9 am to 3:30 pm each day. There will be after care available from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm for an additional fee.
Tuition for regular program: $350
Lunch daily will be in Dewick-MacPhie Dining Hall
Faculty: Ian Gendreau, Sung Kim, Edie Auner, Carol Mastrodomenico, Laura Kozachek, Kathryn Sheehan, and other Tufts student musicians
This a day camp. Here is a sample day schedule –
9 am to 9:30 am – Stretching, rhythm games, announcements
9:30 am to 10:30 am – Choral singing group rehearsal
10:35 am to 11:35 am – Instrumental lessons or Eurhythmics*
11:40 am to 12:25 pm – Lunch (In the Dewick MacPhie Dining Hall on campus)
12:30 pm to 1:30 pm – Instrumental lessons or Eurhythmics*
1:35 pm to 2:00 pm – Break
2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – African drumming group rehearsal
3:00 pm to 3:30 pm – Group activity
*During these two hours, all students will take Dalcroze Eurhythmics class for one of the hours, then either drumming, violin, piano, or recorder (student's choice) for the other hour.
The 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm after care available for an additional fee.
There will be an end of program concert in the Distler Performance Hall on the afternoon of July 31.
Limited scholarships available with submission of most recent tax return.
