Recently, my major research has been the investigation of genetic factors that influence inflammation and clinical outcomes among patients with kidney failure treated with maintenance hemodialysis. In addition, I have opened a new line of investigation in my laboratory focused on the prevalence of somatic mitochondrial DNA deletion mutations and their impact of mitochondrial function and clinical outcomes in patients with chronic kidney disease.
