Frequently asked admissions questions

Thank you for your interest in the Sackler School.  Here is a list of some of the most frequently asked questions regarding the admissions process. If your question is not here, please contact us at sackler-school@tufts.edu or 617-636-6767.

What level of financial support is provided to graduate students?
All fulltime Sackler School graduate students receive full tuition scholarships, health insurance, and monthly living stipends to cover their expenses. See more information about financing your education. In addition, Sackler students may apply for federal loans for uncovered academic and living expenses that are within the federal guidelines.

What criteria are used to evaluate applicants?
Each applicant is considered individually; this involves many factors including academic history, research experience, recommendations, GRE scores, and TOEFL scores (international applicants only). Because all factors are considered together, there are no minimum GPA or GRE score requirement.

What are the advantages of applying online?

Save time – it’s convenient and easy

Error check your application before submission

Don’t worry about delivery of your application; submit it with the click of a button

Pay your application fee by credit card or e-check instead of sending a check or money order

What is the minimum TOEFL requirement?
International applicants must achieve a minimum TOEFL scores of 550 points on the paper exam, 213 on the electronic exam, or 79-80 on the internet-based exam for the TOEFL. The TOEFL requirement is waived for applicants who have received a degree from an institution where instruction was conducted in English.

Can my application fee be waived?
Unfortunately, the application fee cannot be waived. If currency restriction is a problem, you might consider contacting friends or relatives currently residing in the United States to assist in the payment of the application fee.

If I am an international student, do I have to have an interview?
While an on-site interview is not required of international students, it is always necessary to speak with Sackler program officials, and it is often desirable for an applicant to tour the facilities and meet our faculty. It should be noted that the Sackler School does not provide travel expenses for international applicants.

Can I apply for Spring admissions?
The Sackler School does not have a Spring admissions period. New students are enrolled in the Fall.
