Travel Awards and Student Research Assistantships
Travel
Awards - offered
on a rolling basis
The
Tufts Institute of the Environment (TIE) provides travel
awards for Tufts faculty, staff, and students. These travel
awards are available to offset the costs of an individual’s
travel to environmental conferences, meetings, workshops,
and other environmental events. Please note that travel
awards are not given to support an individual’s field research
or internship. Individuals interested in applying for a
travel grant should consult the criteria and guidelines
below and fill out the online application.
Please
note:
TIE travel funding
for any individual applicant may not exceed $1,000 over
two years.
Guidelines:
| 1.
TIE
travel funds are only available to support travel to
conferences and workshops that address environment and/or
sustainability. These funds are not available for travel
for any other purpose. |
| 2.
TIE funding will only pay for transportation and conference
registration costs. |
| 3.
Applicants must apply online through the TIE website. |
| 4.
Preference will be given to students, faculty and staff
who will be participating in the conference or workshop
as a presenter or panelist.
Lesser amounts may be given to participants who attend
such meetings but do not present. |
| 5.
Preference will be given to those attending conferences
and workshops in the following areas: |
- Water |

Energy and Climate |
- Health and Environment |
| 6.
All applications submitted within a given month will
be considered together, and notification of funding
decisions will be given once per month. |
| 7.
Available funding will be divided between the two semesters.
If there is any funding left over, it will be available
for travel to conferences during the summer months. |
8.
Funding is available up to the following amounts:

Student
Research Assistantships - not
currently offered
The Tufts Institute
of the Environment (TIE) provides funds to support students
working on projects related to the environment. These funds
are made available to TIE Steering Committee members to
offset the time they commit to TIE, as well as to any other
faculty or staff member, or community partner who is working
on an environmental project associated with TIE. Please
note that these funds are not available to support student
internships with other organizations unless they are affiliated
with TIE. In order to access the funds, interested individuals
(hereafter referred to as sponsors) should consult the criteria
and guidelines below and fill out the online application.
