Commencement 2008
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University
will hold the school's 26th commencement ceremony at 3:00
p.m. on Sunday, May 18th. The ceremony will be held rain or shine
at the Tufts Franklin M. Loew Veterinary Medical Education Center
on Route 30, North Grafton, MA.
The 152nd all-University commencement ceremony will take place at
9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 18th. The ceremony will be held on the
main campus in Medford, MA. For more information please visit the

Tickets
Family and friends are welcome to attend both ceremonies and
the veterinary school reception. Tickets are not required. There
are no reserved seats, however, so we recommend early arrival for
prime seating. Reserved seating is available for disabled guests.

Commencement Day Schedule of Events

Phase
I, in which all Tufts' schools participate, is the all-University
Commencement ceremony. It includes the Academic Procession,
the awarding of honorary degrees, the all-University Commencement
address, recognition of faculty emeriti, conferral
of degree candidates by school and the granting of degrees
by the Tufts University Board of Trustees.

candidates should assemble in the appropriate locations according
to their alignment areas . Marshals will be available to assist
you. |
8:45
a.m. |
The
Goddard Chapel bells will begin ringing. This is a reminder
that the Academic Procession will begin promptly at 9 a.m.
when the bells stop ringing. |
9:00

Phase I, all-University Academic Procession
begins. |

Commencement
program begins. This ceremony takes place on the lawn between
Ballou Hall and Bendetson Hall. |

Phase II of Commencement at Tufts consists
of the presentation of diplomas to individual graduates
and special activities for the various schools and departments.

The veterinary school’s own ceremony will be
in North Grafton at 3:00 p.m. Degree candidates should assemble
in the front of the Loew Building at 2:00 p.m. to line up for the
academic procession.
The DVM, DVM/MS, MS, and PhD degrees are awarded at the
veterinary school ceremony. Graduates will proceed to the platform
at the appropriate time (names will be read alphabetically) to receive
their hoods and diplomas. The ceremony will include veterinary school
speakers and will last about an hour and a half. At the end of the
ceremony, the class will recess with the faculty and the stage party.
A reception will follow.
Pets
The “No Pets on Campus” policy will be strictly enforced
on commencement day.
Caps and Gowns
Graduates will be notified about ordering commencement regalia.
Photography
A V'08 class picture will be taken near the steps of the Loew
Building before the ceremony. Although there is no limitation on
taking pictures during the ceremonies, guests should use discretion
and keep passageways clear.
Reception
A reception follows the commencement ceremony. Graduates and their
families have an opportunity to mingle with friends, faculty, and
other guests. Light refreshments will be served.
